Diaroogle: Wandering around Manhattan and need to take a crap? Don't want to deal with messy toilets and want a good experience? Search no more, there is Diaroogle! This could be useful for the Perimeter Walk...
Hand Art: I can make a pretty mean duck, but it's nothing compared to what they've done here.
Chemical Party: Awesome video put out by the Marie Curie Actions: Opportunities for Researchers. I'm not sure if this is where I found it originally, but here it is featured on the Sceptical Chymist; good site.
Obama Keeps His Blackberry: There was a big debate over whether or not Obama would be able to keep his Blackberry. Score one for gadget geeks! Warning: C-Span video at bottom of page auto-starts. Stupid Engadget.
How Should President Obama Use Twitter?: I use Twitter, and it's true that Obama's feed isn't very exciting. He should read this and follow the lead of some other leaders.
Obama Aide: Going from Xbox to Atari: Obama's aide notes that going from working his campaign to working in the White House is a huge change in technology (not in a good way) due to national security.
Fuck You, Penguin: Tired of cute animals? Like ranting? This is for you. Here are two posts ranting about prarie dogs and elephants as an example. Great stuff.
Motivational Speech Mashup: Matthew Belinkie mixed up 40 movies with motivational speeches and combined into two minutes. The fact that Cool Runnings is in there makes it even more amazing. I'm not sure if it worked though, since I'm putting off work by writing this post...
Profitable Until Deemed Illegal: I had recently seen ads for Swoopo.com and more or less ignored them. Now that I read this post about it, it seems like genius for them, skirting on the scammy side.
Adam Brockbank: From Design You Trust: "Adam Brockbank has created concept art and storyboards for blockbuster moveis, such as Harry Potter, Spiderman, Alexander, Tomb Rider, X-Men." Very nice work.
Don't Date T-Rex: In case the situation ever comes up, you should opt out of dating a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Not convinced? Here are 9 (illustrated) reasons why you shouldn't. Speaking of entertaining bits about dinosaurs, check this out.
Highly Precarious Cliff Homes: I can't imagine why people would have such a death wish as to live in these houses, other than to say flip god[1] the finger.
Saw: November: Hahaha; kinda scary. Here's a related, and less scary image.
Election Maps: These start out really basic, by state. Then the states are skewed by population. Next is to break the states down into counties, then do another population skew (that's the one you see below). It's taken another step and going beyond red/blue, since some counties are more mixed than others. Good stuff.
Sarah Palin Porn: I first saw this here on Design You Trust, then discovered it was from the movie. I haven't seen it (...yet?) but it looks entertaining. Along the same lines...
Obama Grabs Headlines: More than 700 newspaper front pages on November 5th, once the election was called. Crazy stuff.
The Onion: Nation's Worst Job: I do love the Onion so. "African-American man Barack Obama, 47, was given the least-desirable job in the entire country Tuesday when he was elected president of the United States of America." Read the whole article, it's short and entertaining.
Sinfest: I was torn between showing the comic pictured, or this one, but the first one's smaller. Sinfest had some pretty entertaining political comics this election season.
Measuring an Internet Election: The Wall Street Journal has an interesting piece on measuring the presidential candidates online presence (official website, YouTube views, Facebook friend, blog mentions) as well as poll results. Shows a real difference between McCain/Obama's base.
Election season Has come and gone. I'll miss it, but I'm glad it's done
I currently read 30 different webcomics. Sometimes, I will bookmark a comic which stands out to me, if I remember to. Today I'll highlight a few of those. These are by no means a best of, but rather just a good selection.
A Softer World: The Fog: If you could only take three things to a desert island, what would they be? I will have to use this answer from now on if ever asked that question.
Anomaly: Mustaches: Hmm, I don't remember having these urges on Cinco de Mustache, but they wouldn't have surprised me.
Digital Unrest: Truth in Numbers: I wish the sort of talk you heard in your headset while playing FPS games online was anywhere near this intelligent.
Sinfest: Jesus Terminator: Sinfest is great stuff. So is Terminator. (At least 1 and 2, can't speak for 3 or the TV show.) Combining the two is even greater.
Kaza Kibuishi: This guy's art is very fantastic. In the good sense of the word, and that it's very fantasy/dream-like.
Whole Milk as a CT Agent: Normally a dilute solution of barium is drank before having a CT scan, but scientists have found that drinking whole milk has the same effect. Hmm... a poisonous* metal, or milk... tough call.
Solar Cell Leaves: Normally solar cells are fairly unattractive, unless you're really into the industrial look. However, these look really classy.
Be a Soda Connoisseur: The Art of Manliness has articles like this on a regular basis; good ideas, well-written, and the ideas are pretty off the wall.
5 Reasons to Hate RPGs: I like RPGs, but these are pretty good reasons; especially 1, 2, and 4.
Carl Warner's Foodscapes: I always think of trees when I see broccoli, and after seeing this image, I always will. The rest of the images are cool too, but this is the best one.
Coffee Drinkers Have Slightly Lower Death Rates: Excellent, another article about coffee. Not only does it taste great, and keep me awake, but it's now keeping me alive longer than you suckers who don't like coffee? Excellent.
First Female DNA Sequenced: 6 years after the Human Genome Project they finally sequence female DNA. I would have thought it would happen sooner, just to prove the theory that they're a different species.
*Barium sulfate isn't toxic because it's not water soluble and just passes through the system however.
Here is a buildup
Clearing out some articles
Enjoy my top picks
Steve Jobs is Dead?: I would be depressed if I found out that someone had started writing my obituary while I was alive. He has more money than god, so I suppose he'll get over it.
Skip the File Wiping: If you get caught by the MPAA, RIAA, etc. don't erase your hard drive. That's called tampering with evidence, and if you're not good enough to not get caught, you're not good enough to hide that you ever did it. How is this not common sense to people?
Modern Retro Michael Jackson: What would he look like without all that plastic surgery? Ah, just as we all suspected, like a human being. Maybe he'd be sane too?
Zero Punctuation: Braid: I discussed Zero Punctuation prior. I haven't seen too many of the recent ones, since I don't do a good job keeping up with video games, but as I've played a bunch of Braid, I watched and enjoyed it.
Texan Teachers with Guns: This is one of the dumbest things that I've read in quite a while. Some city in Texas is allowing teachers to have concealed weapons?! I guess this is just reason #725221111989 that I will never live in Texas.
Fingerprint Art: Classy portraits using your fingerprints as art. The same company produces art based on your DNA. When I can afford it, I want some of this.
Facebook: The Movie: Yeah, really. Aaron Sorkin (West Wing, Sports Night) is taking a stab at this. I can't really see any way that this would work, but it will be interesting to see what comes of it.
Oh so many links Google Reader gets filled up By weekend away
My links jumble posts have 8 featured links, and usually about 3 of them are cool artsy things, but this time, they all will be.
Julia Fullerton: There are a bunch of great shots here; some completely different ideas, all of which are amazing. I think this one below is my favorite, but it's a tough call.
Spider: The vanishing point effect is pretty well done. Don't forget to click; I didn't notice that part of it the first time I went here.
Rejected Crayons: Another tough decision here, but I think I'm going to have to go with the flu and spouse ones as my favorites.
Pie Slices: I definitely prefer the first slice of pie, what about you?
Klaps: Here's another market IKEA should try and get into. I love IKEA...
This will make you feel small: The first few were pretty boring I thought, since I already knew all about them, and had seen similar images before, but the last two were really interesting. It could just be the science nerd in me talking.
Coffee Kiss: Be sure to visit the site to see the whole image, this is just a chunk of it. I really wonder how they pulled this off. Hmm... now I want coffee.
Yar Rassadin: A really stellar shot, and the concept is even better. I want a pair.
HillBilly's Homewrecker: This is the name of a hot dog. A monstrous, amazing hot dog that you get prizes for eating quick enough. I've never been to West Virginia, but this is pretty good motivation to do a road trip there.
Hamlet: Facebook Edition: If you're not familiar with Facebook feeds, this is most likely your first time on the internet, and I'm honored you chose Will and Beyond as one of your first destinations. If you're not familiar with Hamlet, you never went to high school, so congratulations on figuring out how to use the internet all by yourself. Otherwise, you'll find this hilarious.
CERN Fires Up Sept. 10: To say that this machine has the potential to discover amazing things is an understatement. The discovery of the Higgs boson would be huge. Seven trillion electron volts of energy? Excuse me, I have to change my pants.
Pop vs. Soda: Odds are very good that you've had this debate if you've ever interacted with a few people who don't come from the same part of the country as you. This project shows us which areas are more prone to naming that fizzy beverage one way or the other.
The CERN Rap: There are few in this world geekier than us scientists, and when we show off our science in entertaining ways like this, amazingness ensues.
Barack-Rolling: Is the novelty of being Rickrolled wearing off? Tired of sending links to that same video? Wanna spice it up a bit, with a dash of Progress?
Levi van Veluw: Great art piece. You should watch the first ten seconds or so of the video to get the idea, but it gets repetitive after that. Then just look at all the pictures.
Hamster Stuck in a Video Game: In middle school, I did a science experiment where I led my cats/dogs through a giant cardboard maze, and recorded their times. While that was more scientific, this video is more spectacular.
