Selling Free Items

How do thieves make money? They steal things, then they sell them, pure profit! How can you take advantage of this strategy legally? Sell items that are free!

MidnightBox

Where are is MidnightBox getting the MSRP: $4.99 from? This article talks about how Nintendo was giving away these sleeves for your Wiimotes, because too many people were breaking their TVs.

Wii Skewer

I can vouch for the fact they give them out for free, I ordered four for my Wii, and they arrived without me paying a cent. Shame on you MidnightBox, for preying on the dumb folk.

Godspeed.

Wow. A 2-pack!? If they have the ability to get four for free why not just sell four of them for $3.95? These thieves just aren't cost-efficient.

I love the sleeves when I'm playing Wii Sports but other than that, they are pretty annoying. I take them off whenever I'm playing an NES game with the Wiimote.

Richard, don't be silly; if you buy two orders, you pay twice the shipping!

Agreed; I rarely use the sleeves.

Indeed Nintendo will send you out free Wii mote jackets. I called and had 4 sent out to me a few months back since my Wii was a first release unit.

However, they do keep track of your name and address, so you can't keep getting free Wii mote jackets forever, that is unless you have many Nintendo Wii systems :)

I'm 50/50 if I like them or not. I think they make the Wii motes look cooler, but that little port plug piece can get into the way, but a quick snip with a knife will fix that too.

But why would you ever need more than 4 per system? I guess maybe in case you lose them or get stuff on them?

@Will: If you had extras, you could use them as door stops or even hack them to be a mini maglight cover :)

In all seriousness, I didn't mean that you need more then 4 since as you pointed out you can only use 4 Wii motes on a single system.

I was only pointing out if you wanted to be like the company you posted about, you'd have to be sneaky and/ or careful of how you acquired the addition Wii mote jackets since they track who they send to and how many.
