A Week of Emergency Rations

will posted 10/05/08 @ 12:56PM EST

Homeland security was going through all of the departments and making sure everyone's emergency supplies were adequate and up to date. Apparently everyone's water and emergency rations were expired, so they were going to get thrown away.

Before we did that, a few of us tried out how they tasted. The water was disgusting; it tasted like you would expect it to considering it was more than 5 years old. There were mixed reviews about the rations. Mixed in the sense that everyone except me thought they were repulsive.

I thought they tasted like lemony goodness. They obviously weren't great, but very edible. I didn't keep the water (other than a few packets to make other people try it), but I kept all 72,000 calories worth of emergency rations. They recommend 1,200 calories a day, so I could be safe for 60 days. If something were to happen before they replenish the supplies, I would get to play god, since I would have all of the food supplies.

My goal is to eat nothing but emergency rations for one (business) week. Starting at 12:01am Monday, and up until 12:01am Saturday, I will eat nothing else. This will also exclude non-water drinks, so no juice either. I will post a daily log here, and you will get to see/read about this painful experience.

Wish me luck...

A week with no food...
Well, not real food anyway
We'll see how this goes

Godspeed.
