Poker Hands

These are the hands - or the combinations of cards which determines who wins a poker game.
I have listed the hands in the order of worst to best.

High Card
This is a simple hand. When you have a high card, you do not have any of the other combinations listed above. To determine who wins between two high cards, you use the highest card in each hand, and whichever is largest wins. If the highest card is the same, you use the next highest card, and continue until a winner is determined.
The best High Card hand is: Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Nine.

Pair
This is the most common hand in most poker games. To have this hand, you must have two cards of the same rank, such as two Kings, or two Eights. If two people have pairs, whichever pair is highest, wins. If two people have the same pairs, you use the other three cards - the kickers to determine, using the same method as in high card.
The best hand with a pair is: Ace, Ace, King, Queen, Jack.

Two Pair
To have this hand, you must have two pairs in your hand, such as a pair of Kings and a pair of Threes. If two people have two pair, you use the highest pair from each hand, then if necessary, the low pair, then if still necessary, the kicker.
The best hand with two pair is: Ace, Ace, King, King, Queen.

Three of a Kind
This hand consists of three of the same card, such as three Fours. The only way for people to have the same three of a kind is with the use of wild cards or community cards, but if it occurs, then you use the two kickers to determine, as in high card.
The best hand with three of a kind is: Ace, Ace, Ace, King, Queen.

Straight
A straight is a sequence of five cards in a row, such as Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven. If two people have straights, whichever hand has the highest straight wins, for example a Six, Seven, Eight, Nine, Ten would beat a Four, Five, Six, Seven, Eight. An ace may be used high or low, but not both. This means that an ace can be used in a low straight; Ace, Two, Three, Four, Five. It can also be used in a high straight; Ten, Jack, Queen, King, Ace. However, it cannot roll-over, and be used as high and low in a sequence such as King, Ace, Two, Three, Four.
The best straight is: Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten.

Flush
A Flush is a hand in which five cards are of the same suit, such as five Hearts, or five Spades. If two people have flushes, whichever flush has the highest card wins. Make sure to watch out for flushes, as they are the easiest hand to not notice, since a flush is the only hand in which suit is taken into account.
The best flush is: Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Nine (of the same suit).

Full House
A full house consists of a three of a kind, and a pair. For example, King, King King, Two, Two is a full house. If two people have full houses, whichever three of a kind is highest wins, and if they're equal, whichever pair is highest wins.
The best full house is: Ace, Ace, Ace, King, King.

Four of a Kind
As the name implies, four of a kind consists of four of the same card, such as Ten, Ten, Ten, Ten. If two people have the same four of a kind, the kicker is used to determine the winner.
The best four of a kind hand is: Ace, Ace, Ace, Ace, King.

Straight Flush
A straight flush is a combination of a straight and a flush. It is a sequence of five, like in a straight, however all five cards must be of the same suit. In determining the winner between two straight flushes, it is done so just as in a straight. A straight flush is the highest hand possible in poker in a game without wilds. A straight flush consisting of Ten, Jack, Queen, King, Ace is referred to as a Royal Flush.
The best straight flush is a Royal Flush.

Five of a Kind
As the name implies, this is when all five your cards are the same. Since there are only 4 of each card in a deck, this hand is possible with the use of wild cards. In the case which I have never seen happen before that two people have five of a kind, the higher set of cards obviously wins.
The best five of a kind, which is the best hand in poker is: Ace, Ace, Ace, Ace, Wild.
